Sir Andrew Parmley
Sir Andrew Parmley is a leading figure in the campaign to boost business tourism in Blackpool.
The former Lord Mayor of the City of London grew up on the Fylde Coast and was educated at Thames Road Primary School and Blackpool Grammar School.
He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists and Trinity College London; an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music; an Honorary Fellow and Visiting Professor of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama; and he holds Honorary Doctorates from City, University of London and Strathclyde University.
Sir Andrew is a great advocate for the town and keen to see many more organisations coming to Blackpool for conferences and business events describing the local offer as ‘a world-class experience.’
He says: “We have the hotels and the conference facilities; we have the restaurants and the entertainments; we have the ability to look after family members who may be taking advantage of the conference to spend a few days relaxing.”
Jane Cole, Managing Director, Blackpool Transport Services
Jane has been instrumental in bringing the ALBUM conference to Blackpool, first in 2017 and again on May 5 and 6, 2020, when it will be staged at the resort’s Village Hotel.
Jane said: “As a business leader in Blackpool, I encourage people to bring their conferences and events to the resort so they can really get a feel for the benefits of doing business beside the sea.
“The Association of Local Bus Company Managers (ALBUM) held their three-day conference here in 2017 and the feedback was astounding. The facilities for the event were compatible to their needs and we were able to provide a diverse range of activities outside of work time to enable the delegates to really immerse themselves in the full Blackpool Experience.
“The Gala Dinner was attended by 350 transport professionals on the final evening and we were highly commended for hosting the best conference they have ever had in 30 years!
“I am delighted to announce that ALBUM have rebooked to bring their conference back to Blackpool in 2020 and I am busy planning a host of new adventures for them to enjoy.”
