Blackpool prides itself on welcoming everyone and making sure all our guests have a great time on our stunning Promenade, at our many attractions, in our restaurants, on our trams and buses or simply just getting around this wonderful resort.

Here are some examples of how we are helping everyone enjoy their stay, whatever your requirements.

Sandcastle Waterpark

This world-leading waterpark offers exceptional access facilities and is a Gold winner of VisitEngland’s Access For All Award. The park is designed to accommodate all visitors. Facilities include accessible changing rooms, specialised access and a lift. Assistance is available with the use of Accessible Ambassadors and all disabled visitors and carers are welcome at a concessionary rate. For more details, click here.

The Blackpool Tower 

This iconic Blackpool Tower has an array of procedures in place to aid visitors. The Blackpool Tower Eye and 4D Cinema can accommodate all guests with a disability. Wheelchair access is available from Bank Hey Street entrance and there is a lift to all floors within the Tower. If required, wheelchairs are also available for hire. Blackpool Zoo 

Blackpool Zoo has fully accessible disabled facilities and designated parking spaces.  It has level access throughout with ramps to the restaurant.  Toilets suitable for visitors with mobility needs are available. Wheelchairs can be hired free of charge from the main reception, with a refundable £10.00 deposit. Click here for more information. 

Madame Tussauds

The majority of facilities and entertainment are designed to be fully accessible to guests with a disability. Madame Tussauds’ trained staff will ensure guests with disabilities are transported safely from floor to floor within the building by means of a specially designated lift.  Courtesy wheelchairs are available on request.  For more details, visit the dedicated section of the website.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach 

Blackpool Pleasure Beach strives to make the park and their rides as accessible as possible. There is a wheelchair loan service, accessible toilets are available at the many locations and level access throughout the park, including ramps. Reduced price parking for Blue Badge holders. Trams and Buses 

All our fantastic new Light Railway Trams are wheelchair accessible and low floor buses are designed to allow wheelchair users to access our services.  Wheelchair users have priority over everyone else for use of the wheelchair space while for parents there are pushchair spaces available on board. As part of the heritage trams, the Western Train tram is out most evenings for the Illumination Tour which has a wheelchair lift and room for one wheelchair. All other heritage trams have steps but conductors are helpful and will assist where possible to aid people on and off the trams. For more details, visit the Blackpool Transport website

Events

Blackpool’s Illuminations Switch-On is one of the major highlights in our packed annual events calendar. You can register for tickets here. If you are lucky and win a ticket, there is a dedicated area at the event which is accessed on a first come first served basis for visitors with disabilities. There is excellent access for other massive events such as the World Fireworks Championship Blackpool and the two-day Blackpool Air Show, with plenty of vantage points that are perfect for those with mobility requirements.

Stanley Park

Stanley Park has a network of asphalt paths running throughout with varying easy and moderate slopes. The park welcomes assisted dogs. Designated disabled car parking spaces are accessible in their car park. There is access to the Italian Gardens from the main entrance and the car park is via a moderate slope.  Accessible toilets are available in the café, which has a ramped entrance.  A radar key can be obtained from the visitor centre, which is located alongside the café.

VisitBlackpool Tourist Information Centre (TIC) and Wedding Chapel

The access is fully DDA compliant with lift to all floors – access is via TIC with exit for weddings to the rear of the building. Access to disabled toilets is on the ground floor.

Wheelchair and Mobility Scooters
