VisitBlackpool is the tourism arm of Blackpool Council and is tasked with promoting the UK's most popular holiday destination to leisure and business visitors, both domestically and internationally.

Why do we collect your information?
We collect information for the following purposes – competitions, the Blackpool Illuminations Switch On draw, Blackpool Resort Passes and marketing.
What is our lawful basis?
VisitBlackpool must have a valid lawful basis in order to process personal data. We rely on your consent for the purposes of competitions, marketing and switch on draw – Article 6(a) of the GDPR.
You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing website@visitblackpool.com or calling 01253 478232.
For the purpose of selling merchandise we rely on performance of a contract – Article 6(b) of the GDPR.
What information do we collect?
- For the purpose of competitions we will collect your name and contact details.
- For the purpose of the switch on draw we will collect your name and contact details.
- For the purpose of selling merchandise we will collect your name, contact details, postal address and financial information.
- For the purpose of marketing we will collect your name and contact details.
- We may also collect your IP address and/or information regarding what pages are accessed and when. If you purchase a product from us, your card information is not held by us, it is collected by our third party payment processors, who specialise in the secure online capture and processing of credit/debit card transactions.
How long will we keep your information?
- For the purpose of competitions we will keep your personal data for the length of the competition.
- For the purpose of the switch on draw we will keep your information until the draw has taken place.
- For the purpose of marketing we will keep your information until you withdraw your consent.
- For the purpose of selling merchandise we will keep your information for two years
How is your information used?
We may use your information to:
- Process orders that you have submitted.
- To carry out our obligations arising from any contracts entered into by you and us.
- Dealing with entries into a prize draw.
- Seek your views or comments on the services we provide.
- Notify you of changes to our services.
- Send you communications which you have requested and that may be of interest to you. These may include information about campaigns, promotions of our associated companies goods and services.
Who has access to your information?
- We will not sell or rent your information to third parties.
- We will not share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.
- We will not share your data outside of the EU.
Third party service providers working on our behalf – we may pass your information to our third-party service providers, agents subcontractors and other associated organisations for the purposes of completing tasks and providing services to you on our behalf (for example to process payments and send you mailings). However, when we use third party service providers, we disclose only the personal information that is necessary to deliver the service and we have a contract in place that requires them to keep your information secure and not to use it for their own direct marketing purposes. Please be reassured that we will not release your information to third parties beyond VisitBlackpool for them to use for their own direct marketing purposes, unless you have requested us to do so, or we are required to do so by law, for example, by a court order or for the purposes of prevention of fraud or other crime.

We will not contact you for marketing purposes by email, phone or text message unless you have given your prior consent.
You have a choice about whether or not you wish to receive information from us. If you have signed up to receive our email communications and decide you no longer wish to receive them (you want to withdraw your consent), you can use the unsubscribe section at the bottom of each email, or you can message us at website@visitblackpool.com and we can remove you from the system.
Your rights
You have a number of rights relating to the processing of your information, including the right to access the information we hold about you (via the Subject Access Request), the right to erasure (the right to be forgotten) and the right to have inaccurate data corrected. Complaints
If you are not happy with how the Council has handled your personal information, you can contact us to allow us the opportunity to resolve this with you.
