Culture Blackpool"

LeftCoast

LeftCoast, one of the Arts Council’s Creative People and Places Projects, have been working in Blackpool since 2014. It is a programme of arts, culture and creative activity happening across Blackpool and Wyre on the Fylde Coast.

Working with residents and visitors they make arts and culture accessible, whilst still being challenging, from jaw-dropping spectacle to intimate experiences in your neighbourhood. They specialise in using art to reimagine spaces in new and creative ways and have brought world class contemporary art to Blackpool such as; Australian circus company Circa! who performed DEPART in Stanley Park and dreamthinkspeak who reimagined ABSENT in Blackpool’s Winter Gardens. Both of these companies are not something you would expect to see outside of an international festival and especially not in Blackpool.

LeftCoast helps to make art happen. In the process they hope to inspire and support creatives who live, work and study here. You can be part of the art transformation happening in your area, you could help shape your neighbourhood through our community activities, get support to develop your skills as part of LeftCoast STUDIO, create new projects with our help as part of our Future Popular programme or become a volunteer in our LeftCoast MAKER programme.

LeftCoast can let you know about the wealth of arts and cultural activity taking place across the Fylde Coast, from our nationally recognised arts organisations The Grundy Art Gallery and The Grand Theatre to independent festivals, artist studios and pop up galleries. They know that Blackpool definitely has culture!

Join them and subscribe to their monthly newsletter to find out all the latest information about what they’ve got in store.
LeftCoast has been brought together by a local partnership of organisations including Blackpool Coastal Housing, Blackpool Council, Wyre Council, Blackpool Grand Theatre and Merlin Entertainments. They are funded by Arts Council England’s Creative People and Places Programme.
