Aspiring little zoo keepers can take a walk on the wild side with Blackpool Zoo’s Keeper Kids programme this summer.
After a complete sell out of the inaugural May course, the zoo has announced three more action packed weekend dates during August.
Future David Attenboroughs and Michaela Strachans can get up close and personal with their favourite animal friends, including sea lions and giraffes.
From helping with food preparation to cleaning out the elephant paddock, everyone will get a true taster for the life of a zoo keeper.
Children will help staff solve clues as part of a zoo quiz trail that will take them on a magical journey to explore and meet some of the really wild residents.
There will also be crafty sessions for kids to put together a scrap-book full of wonderful memories.
Jude Rothwell, Marketing and PR Coordinator at Blackpool Zoo, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be running the Keeper Kids programme in the summer holidays!
“Many of our keepers here at Blackpool knew exactly what they wanted to be when they grew up and see their profession as more of a calling than a job.
“By allowing children to see behind the scenes and letting them get hands on with everyday tasks here at Blackpool Zoo they can get a real taste of the life of a zoo keeper.
“If you know any children that are mad about animals this really is the ultimate treat.
“We are expecting the summer dates to sell out fast so I would urge people to book now to avoid disappointment.”
Each day starts at 10.30am and finishes at 3.00pm. The cost for the two-day course is just £95, which includes a Blackpool Zoo Keeper Kids t-shirt, a scrap book and a disc full of photographs as a lasting memento.
Parents will also get a free parking pass for the duration of the programme, as well as special discounts in the shops and café.
Blackpool Zoo is open at 10.00am every day of the year except Christmas Day. Closing time is 5.45pm and last admission is 5.00pm. Visitors can save on admission prices by booking online at www.blackpoolzoo.org.uk.
