James Wilton Dance Delivers a Storm in Their Latest Performance!
Jack Dinsley, a student from UCLAN visited the Grand Theatre Blackpool last week to check out another wonderful dance and physical theatre show - here's what he thought!
James Wilton Dance's The Storm was performed for one night only at the Grand Theatre on the 8th February 2019. The pure talent displayed by the dancers, had the audience on the edge of their seats as they delivered an emotional performance.
The Storm follows the subject matter of mental health but in a way that hasn’t been done before. The performance shows that when someone is unhappy that “it will all blow over.” There is always a calm before the storm but will things be okay after? The stunning performance delivers an epic story which unfolds in front of the audience and captivates them in a way that hasn't been done before.
James Wilton Dance consists of seven talented dancers, who are all talented in their own way. They were able to tell a story in the movement of dance, supported with an emotional soundtrack, which went hand in hand. However, James Wilton Dance isn’t just any dance company, it showcases acrobatics, break dancing and martial arts, which drew the audience’s attention from start to finish.
The performance was able to have moments that were slow paced, which allowed the audience to feel every step the performer delivered. Meanwhile, there were moments that were fast paced, which hooked the audience's attention. The audience felt the journey and the message of mental health was received positively.
