Blackpool’s breath-taking Air Show is back for 2016 and looks set to be better than ever!
Taking to the skies on Sunday 7th and Monday 8th of August in association with media partner Smooth Radio, the show will begin from noon. The Air Show will commence shortly after at 13:30 on Blackpool Promenade between North and Central piers.
The free show, which features the world famous RAF Red Arrows, a group of daredevil Wingwalkers and some of the most spectacular pilots in the country as well as a range of new and exciting displays, promises to showcase the very best in British aviation.
The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, which features a Spitfire, a Hurricane and a Lancaster Bomber, will take centre stage in what promises to be an extremely patriotic programme.
Hear the roar, as the RAF Typhoon thunders above the skies; see spectacular aerobatic displays from Team Raven, the Global Stars and Team Trig as they perform a set of astounding aerial ballet with breath-taking sequences of loops and rolls.
The RAF Red Arrows will conclude the Sunday display with their own amazing display of aerial control, speed and synergy.
Incredibly, 2016 marks the 107th annual Blackpool Air Show, making it one of the longest running air shows in the world.
Cllr Gillian Campbell, Deputy Leader of Blackpool Council, said: “This year marks the 107th annual Blackpool Air Show and I have absolutely no doubt it will be as fantastic as ever.
“The line-up looks superb and this truly is an event for all the family, the show runs over two days and is perfect for both local residents and visitors.
“I hope people will be able to come along and stay for the two days and enjoy all that the show and the resort has to offer.”
As well as a range of spectacular displays, there are also a whole range of exciting sights on the ground with stalls, stands and attractions from the friends of the Red Arrows, Simulator Supplies, Flyzone, Battle of Britain, SPAM and the RAF Benevolent Fund.
Smooth Radio will also be present between 10:00 – 16:00 on Sunday the 7th, bringing along their silent disco, listeners will be able to join in the fun and dance their cares away to the top Smooth tracks of the summer.
Blackpool has been wowing the public since 1909 when the town put on the very first official air show in Britain.
That was the same year French flyer Louis Bleriot made the first historic crossing of the English Channel.
