Do you know your Catherine Wheel from your Rocket?
Are you a good judge of master-blasting pyrotechnical displays?
It’s that time of year again when the skies above Blackpool are lit up for the World Fireworks Championships.
And this year VisitBlackpool is giving one lucky person the opportunity to join the official judging panel and decide who really deserves the world firework crown.
The winner, and up to three friends or family members, will spend the evening in the VIP judging area where hospitality will be provided. They will also get to meet the pyrotechnic teams and have a photograph taken with them.
Teams of top international firework experts from Ireland, China and France will represent their homeland by staging stunning pyrotechnical displays above Blackpool’s North Promenade on 6, 13, 20 and 27 September showcasing the artistry of their pyrotechnical team and the innovation of their fireworks designers.
Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to travel to the resort to witness the spectacle.
Natalie Wyatt, Managing Director of Marketing Blackpool, said: “The International Firework Championships is an amazing event enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of people each year.
“We are really looking forward to witnessing some spectacular displays and welcoming many people into the resort.
“We have decided to have a guest judge this year because it is such an amazing event that we really want a member of the public to get the opportunity to play a very important role in that.”
The opening event is on Friday 6 September, with further displays throughout the month. Each heat of the competition is FREE to view, and the fireworks will be launched from North Pier. Spectator viewing is between The Tower Festival Headland and North Promenade.
The teams from Ireland, China and France will compete over the first three Fridays of September with the winner announced on 27 September when British Pyrotechnical experts Titanium will bring the event to a spectacular close.
