Blackpool children’s hospice Brian House is being adopted by Marketing Blackpool as their official charity for the year.
Marketing Blackpool is the Destination Management Organisation for the UK’s most popular seaside resort and while the company is tasked with enticing as many visitors as possible to Blackpool, it is also keen to work with the community too.
Managing Director Natalie Wyatt said it has been the company’s plan to support a local charity since it was first set up in late 2011 and the decision has now been taken to make that charity Brian House.
Ms Wyatt said: “We have discussed working with a local charity for some time and now we are in a position to do that we are delighted to be working with Brian House.
“This is a fantastic facility that plays a vital role in caring for very special children on the Fylde coast. Sadly some lives are too short and without kind donations from the community Brian House would not be there for the local families who need it so it is essential as many people as possible back this incredibly worthy charity.
“Even if our support just helps raise the profile of this wonderful charity then hopefully we will have helped them gain even more help from others.”
All care at Brian House is provided free of charge but it costs £1.5million a year to run and most of this is met by the kind donations of people on the Fylde coast.
Linzi Young, Fundraising Manager for Brian House, said: “We are very grateful for Marketing Blackpool’s support and are delighted to be working with them. Many families across the Fylde benefit from the dedicated team at Brian House but without help and support from the community we would be unable to do that.
“To gain such public support is wonderful because it really helps raise our profile and hopefully encourages more people to understand and appreciate the work we are doing and how vital that is.”
