Attractions / Blackpool News A Punchy New Arrival 6 September 2018 by Visit Blackpool Nicola Adams’s knockout wax figure was today unveiled by Madame Tussauds Blackpool. The town roared as The Lioness’s wax double arrived in the resort and seen playfully throwing a punch at the iconic Blackpool Tower. Every last feature of Nicola’s signature look has been accurately detailed, down to the lion tattoo which spans the back of her neck. Officially Great Britain’s most successful female boxer, Adams is the first woman to win an Olympic boxing title, and the first British boxer to successfully defend their Olympic title for 92 years. The gold medallist is also the only female boxer in the history of the sport to have won every major title available to her; Olympic, World, European, and Commonwealth. In recognition to her services to boxing and unprecedented achievement, Nicola was appointed an Order of the British Empire in 2016. General Manager, Matthew Titherington, said: “I’m thrilled we can bring Nicola’s wax figure to the attraction. “What she’s achieved in the sport is outstanding, and she’ll be an inspiration to not only young girls, but also older kids who will be visiting the Sporting Heroes Academy.” Nicola will be inducted into the new Sporting Heroes Academy, which features some of Britain’s greatest sporting legends. The new academy is a colourful, immersive, interactive space where guests can meet those who’ve become heroes through their dedication to sport and take the opportunity to test and hone their own skills through the various challenges on offer, to see if a potential sporting hero lies within them. Hopefully guests aren’t too scared to square up to the boxer…
