Big Daddy, the giant Japanese Spider Crab with a 10 foot claw-span has become a firm favourite amongst visitors since his arrival in April 2013.

The truly giant Spider Crab was destined for a Japanese fish market until a reprieve was negotiated and he was flown to the UK instead. Found in deep waters off the Japanese island of Honshu, the world’s biggest crabs feed mainly on smaller crustaceans and dead fish, and are reputed to live up to 100 years.

Then why not take Dad along to delve deep into the world of sharks in Shark Mission, a brand new feature designed to increase visitor knowledge about sharks and encourage interaction with these amazing creatures in a number of fun ways.

Including a brand new baby shark pool, state-of-the-art interactive screens providing a wealth of shark information and an area featuring shark eggs and foetuses within their egg cases.
