Blackpool’s successful Resort Pass is being relaunched for 2014 with even more attractions on offer.
Almost a million pounds worth of Blackpool’s ground-breaking Resort Passes were sold in their first year on sale with visitors travelling from as far away as Australia and India to experience the resort’s many attractions.
The Blackpool Resort Pass was the first of its kind to be launched in the UK in February last year offering visitors access to up to nine of the resort’s top attractions at huge discounts.
And as it returns for 2014 tourism bosses are adding even more bolt-ons giving visitors the opportunity to add extras including Blackpool’s newest attraction Illuminasia, Viva Showbar, Ripleys Believe It Or Not, Hot Ice, The Blackpool Tower Ballroom and The Blackpool Tower Ballroom with afternoon tea.
The Blackpool Tower Circus and Blackpool Transport tickets can also be purchased as bolt-ons.
After just nine months on sale the Resort Pass clocked up sales of £980,000 equating to 92,730 individual attraction tickets being sold.
And while the majority of Resort Passes were sold to customers in the UK, with the Scots topping sales buying a quarter of all passes sold, overseas sales included Australia, India, Malta, Norway, Germany and the Netherlands.
Cllr Graham Cain, Blackpool Council Cabinet Member for Leisure and Tourism, said: “The Blackpool Resort Pass was a huge success last year and we hope to see that continue in 2014.
“It is essential that we offer our visitors the opportunity to enjoy as much of Blackpool at great prices and the Resort Pass does just that.
“We were delighted with the results last year and the fact that we were attracting visitors from so far afield is a reflection of just how popular the Pass and Blackpool is.”
As well as bringing key attractions together in one pass, the Blackpool Resort Pass is also designed to encourage visitors to stay longer in the resort.
Research by VisitBlackpool revealed of 349 people surveyed about the Blackpool Resort Pass more than 67% said they stayed in the resort for four nights or more while using it and 99% said they would recommend it to a friend.
Cllr Cain added: “The feedback last year was fantastic and I look forward to seeing the figures for 2014 later in the year. We have worked extensively with our partners in the resort to ensure the Pass continues to be a success this year offering unbridled fun at huge discounts.”
