Friday 20 November 2015
This November step back in time when Blackpool Grand Theatre hosts an evening of 70’s glam rock icons!
Three of the most exuberant, live bands of the 70s are teaming up for a nationwide tour that is bringing the nostalgia of the glam rock era to the present day. Combining the legendary rock phenomena Sweet, Mud 2, and glam rock sensation The Rubettes (featuring Alan Williams), Glitz, Blitz and 70’s Hitz is set to be a night to get those ‘Tigerfeet’ tapping!
Quintessential British glam rockers Sweet spent over three years in the UK charts, sold over 55 million records and had 34 No. 1 hits, including the smash-hit single ‘Block Buster!’, as well as ‘Hell Raiser’, ‘The Ballroom Blitz’ and ‘Teenage Rampage’. The band still tour worldwide and now they’re bringing their legendary stage presence to Blackpool.
Mud were a British glam rock and pop band fronted by the legendary Les Gray, whose sound has been kept alive by Mud 2, who formed in 2005. Mud had fourteen Top-20 hits and 3 No.1s, including ‘Lonely This Christmas’, which was Christmas No.1 in 1974.
The Rubettes (featuring Alan Williams) are one of the true icons of 70’s glam. They are perhaps best known for their hit ‘Sugar Baby Love’, which spent five weeks at No. 1 in the UK and sold 8 million copies worldwide. Other hit records include ‘Tonight’, ‘Juke Box Jive’, ‘I Can Do It’ and ‘Baby I Know’. Today, original vocalist Alan Williams and fellow original Rubettes members John Richardson and Mick Clarke still perform together.
Now for one night only, music lovers across the Fylde can don their glitter and make-up and head to Blackpool Grand to relive the era of glam rock with some of the greatest musical sensations of the 70s. For a night of nostalgia and non-stop singing, don’t miss Glitz, Blitz and 70’s Hitz when it stops off at Blackpool Grand on Friday 20 November.
