When the sun is shining there’s nothing better than spending the whole day outside with the family. Blackpool has a variety of exciting outdoor activities and events to keep people of all ages entertained.
We’ve picked five of our favourite activities that are sure to keep your family entertained during the warm days throughout summer!
1. Take a walk along the Golden Mile
Take in Blackpool’s iconic seafront on a stroll down the bustling promenade. On your wander, you can see the Comedy Carpet which sits at the foot of The Blackpool Tower, visit the famous Coral Island to play on the 2p machines or take in the beautiful views of the Fylde coast.
Whilst on your stroll, make sure you take the opportunity to enjoy the golden sands of Blackpool’s award-winning beaches, and maybe indulge in an ice cream while you’re there!
2. Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Nickelodeon Land
If you’re looking for an action-packed day full of thrills and laughs, then Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Nickelodeon Land is a must visit.
For the dare-devils of the family, there is a selection of white-knuckle rides including the Grand National roller coaster and the iconic Big One. Cartoon fans will also have a chance to meet their favourite characters in Nickelodeon Land, while trying out the amazing attractions including Dora the Explorer’s World Voyage and Spongebob’s Splash Bash!
3. Explore the piers
Did you know that Blackpool is home to three exciting piers? Each of them are jam-packed with family friendly activities including arcades, rides and shows as well as plenty of opportunities to indulge in tasty treats and take in beautiful beach views. Blackpool’s South Beach recently received the coveted Blue Flag award, making it one of the best beaches in Britain and perfect for your family to enjoy.
For anyone looking to get their heart racing, the South Pier is home to the Adrenaline Zone, which includes the free-fall experience Skycoaster.
With so much to explore, taking the time to have a look around Blackpool’s three piers is an essential activity to add to your itinerary.
4. Stanley Park
Stanley Park is situated on the outskirts of Blackpool and has beautiful green spaces, historical buildings and family friendly activities.
Once you have taken a stroll through the scenic greenery, you can visit the children’s play areas, which include fun interactive features that will keep the little ones entertained for hours. For bigger kids, braving the High Ropes offers an exciting experience including a zip wire, a rock climbing wall and a series of challenging obstacles and bridges.
Once they’ve had their fill of fun, you can head over to the lake to take an old fashioned rowing boat trip in the sunshine.
5. Blackpool Zoo
The multi-award winning Blackpool Zoo is home to a huge family of animals from all over the world including big cats, elephants, giraffes and gorillas.
Blackpool Zoo’s large, natural enclosures aim to get you as close as possible to each different species, no matter how large or small. From seeing the Mediterranean miniature donkeys in the Children’s Farm to watching the Amur tigers playing, your little explorers will have a great time learning about all the resident creatures at Blackpool Zoo.
