This weekend sees the annual Blackpool Air show return to the seafront in what is set to be an exciting and fun-filled two days for all the family. On Sunday 9th and Monday 10th August Blackpool seafront will play host to aircrafts from the past and present, in a showcase of the most amazing flying machines in the world.
The Blackpool Air show has been gracing the beach since 1909. This marked a historic year in aviation, when Louis Bleriot become the first person to cross the English Channel in a heavier-than-air aircraft. Since then the free air show has become a firm family favourite in the resort and draws in a large crowd every year.
So what can you look forward to seeing this year? We have pulled out a few must-see highlights from both days, to get you excited for a weekend full of amazing aircrafts and daring flying stunts.
Top Picks for Sunday 9th August
Red Arrows – the world famous aerobatics team will be touching down in Blackpool to showcase what is guaranteed to be a jaw dropping performance. Flying in perfect unison the Red Arrows will carry out a sequence of loops, turns, rolls and twists, all completed with their signature red, white and blue contrails.
The Red Arrows will guarantee a fantastic finale to a brilliant day, so make sure you grab a good spot on the seafront and enjoy this splendid display.
RV8tors – these high performance, homebuilt aircrafts are all set to put on a brilliant display on Sunday. Watch as these fantastically fast machines showcase a thrilling and unforgettable display full of nail biting aerobatics and close flybys.
Watch out for the heart warming finish, which will cement the RV8tors as a highlight of your day.

Top Picks for Monday 10th August
Red Devils – are a parachute regiment free fall team who are set to put on a nail biting show this Monday. Manned by 12 serving soldiers, the team will freefall from a plane and land in the Irish Sea, all whilst performing stomach churning stunts. So hold on tight and prepare yourself for a tremendous display.
Breitling Wing Walkers – are the world’s only aerobatic formation wing walking team and they will be delighting Blackpool patrons on Sunday and Monday at this year’s air show. You can look forward to witnessing trained professionals complete a series of aerobatics and close formation flypasts as well as manoeuvres including loops, rolls and turns. So make sure you’re at the front in plenty of time to catch what is guaranteed to be an amazing display.
