So that you can make the most of your family trip this summer, we have put together a list of some of the must-see events that will allow you to set your break off with a real bang.
Shows
Blackpool has an exciting range of performances across the resort, with something that every family member can enjoy.
CATS 9th July – 5th September
This year, CATS the musical comes to the Blackpool Opera House – the only place where theatre goers can see the show north of London this year! Complete with a famous musical score, mesmerising costumes and a magical story, CATS is guaranteed to be a truly memorable evening for all your family.
Hot Ice Show – Desire 2nd July – 5th September
Hot Ice returns in 2015 with a brand new show, Desire. Your family can watch in awe as some of the best skating performers from around the world take to the ice in a rush of sequins and gravity defying moves. So that you don’t miss out on seeing the amazing routines in this one-of-a-kind ice show, take advantage of our online booking option and buy your tickets early.
Blackpool Tower Circus 26th May- 1st November
Join Mooky and Mr Boo at their Big Day Out in the iconic Blackpool Tower for a circus show that will amaze your entire family. With a host of acts including acrobats, high wire artists and motorcycle stunt riders there’s certainly something to thrill and entertain everyone. Full of gasps, laughs and edge of your seat action, The Blackpool Tower Circus is a must-see event for every family paying a visit to Blackpool this year.
Free family days out
Across the resort, there are also plenty of events which are absolutely FREE, leaving you with a little extra in your pocket to indulge in an ice cream or two by the sea front.
Blackpool Air Show 9th & 10th August
Blackpool’s annual Air Show returns to wow spectators with breathtaking aerodynamic displays from aircrafts old and new. This year, prepare to be captivated by the world famous Red Arrows as they take to the skies in a demonstration of speed, agility and precision. Your family will also be able to watch the RAF Red Devils Parachute team as they show their nerves of steel in an exciting free fall display.
Family Funday with CBeebies 25th July
If you are looking for an event your little ones can enjoy, join Mr Yipadee, Katy from I Can Cook and the Rhyme Rockets live on stage for the Family Funday with CBeebies, in St John’s Square. Complete with face painting, a bouncy castle and Blackpool mascot dance-off, it is set to be an afternoon full of fun. Also, get your singing voices ready, as there will be plenty of opportunities for you all to join in with tunes throughout the day.
After summer events
As the days draw shorter, Blackpool is still a hive of activity with plenty of things to do and see.
Blackpool Illuminations 4th September – 8th November
If you are visiting the resort later in the year, take the opportunity to witness one of Britain’s most iconic sights.
For two months as the evenings darken, Blackpool’s promenade is brought to life by an amazing light show. The annual Blackpool Illuminations Switch-on also has its own festival – the Blackpool iFest – which sees a host of top music and comedy stars perform as the Lights are turned on. Or if you are looking for a unique way to experience the Illuminations, get on your bike and head down to our Ride the Lights event on 1st September, where you and your family can experience the display on a traffic free promenade.
World Fireworks Championship 11th September – 2nd October
Every year, Blackpool also hosts the World Fireworks Championships, which brings the best names in pyrotechnics to the resort, each looking for the chance to be crowned the World Fireworks Champion. Each Friday evening, the skies above the beach are treated to amazing displays from the fireworks makers, whilst the festival atmosphere continues on the ground.
