The world-famous RAF Red Arrows will return to Blackpool’s Airshow in 2014.
VisitBlackpool can today confirm the RAF has made initial allocations for the 2014 event which will again take place over two days on August 10 and 11.
The Red Arrows will perform at the FREE event on Sunday 10 August along with the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, Typhoon and RAF Tucano.
The Typhoon and RAF Tucano will also take to the skies above Blackpool for the second day of the Airshow on Monday 11.
More aircraft will be added to the display and will be confirmed soon.
Cllr Graham Cain, Blackpool Council Cabinet Member for Tourism and Leisure, said: “We are delighted to be able to announce the initial allocation for this year’s Blackpool Airshow and, of course, it is always thrilling to know that the Red Arrows will be there.
“This is a huge event in the resort’s calendar attracting more than a hundred thousand residents and visitors.”
Blackpool Airshow was extended to two days last year and such was its success that 2014 will be a two-day show too.
Cllr Cain added: “The Airshow is always hugely popular drawing enormous crowds and this was certainly clear last year when so many people flocked to the resort over both days.
“Of course the weather plays a huge part in this but we anticipate attracting many tens of thousands of people yet again to this free event and we are also looking forward to finding out soon what other aircraft will be showing us their daring feats of acrobatics too.”
The fabulous free event takes place over the famous Blackpool promenade between North and Central piers in the resort.
Blackpool Airshow has been wowing the public since 1909 when the town put on the very first official air show in Britain. That was the same year French flyer Louis Bleriot made the first historic crossing of the English Channel.
