MAMMA MIA! ANNOUNCES FULL CAST DETAILS FOR THE ONLY UK TOUR DATE IN 2014 AT THE BLACKPOOL OPERA HOUSE 20 JUNE – 31 AUGUST 2014
The producers of MAMMA MIA! are delighted to announce the full cast for the exclusive UK Summer Season of the MAMMA MIA! International Tour at the Blackpool Opera House, opening in June 2014. This will be the only UK venue outside of London to host the worldwide hit musical next year.
Real-life husband and wife, Richard Standing and Sara Poyzer, will rejoin the cast of the MAMMA MIA! International Tour, with Sara playing Donna Sheridan and Richard playing Sam Carmichael. Sara also played Donna in the West End production of MAMMA MIA! and the part of Mam in the West End musical Billy Elliot. The MAMMA MIA! International Tour will also star Geraldine Fitzgerald as Tanya, Sue Devaney as Rosie, Michael Beckley as Bill Austin, Keiron Crook as Harry Bright, Victoria Serra as Sophie Sheridan, Bart Edwards as Sky, Sally Frith as Ali, Jasmin Colangelo as Lisa, Kade Ferriaiolo as Pepper and Ashley Luke Lloyd as Eddie. The role of Donna will be played at certain performances by Natalie Langston.
Also in the cast of the MAMMA MIA! International Tour are Craig Anthony-Kelly, Laura Benazaize, Jay Bryce, Matthew Collyer, Frances Dee, James-Royden Lyley, Gemma Lawson, Megan Louch, Scott Mobley, Aaron Ashley Parker, Ashley Russell, Robbie Scotcher, Tom Stanford-Wheatley, Anna Stolli, Lucy Wilkerson, Sarah Wilkie and Jamie Wilkin.
MAMMA MIA! is Judy Craymer’s ingenious vision of staging the story-telling magic of ABBA’s timeless songs with an enchanting tale of family and friendship unfolding on a Greek island paradise. To date, it has been seen by more than 54 million people in 38 productions in 14 different languages grossing more than $2 billion at the box office. MAMMA MIA! The Movie is the highest grossing musical film and one in four households in the UK has the DVD, which is now Amazon UK’s biggest selling DVD ever.
From West End to global phenomenon, the London production of MAMMA MIA! has now been seen by more than 10% of the entire UK population. It is one of only five musicals to have run for more than 10 years both on Broadway and in the West End, and in 2011, it became the first Western musical ever to be staged in Chinese in the People’s Republic of China.
With music & lyrics by Benny Andersson & Björn Ulvaeus, MAMMA MIA! is written by Catherine Johnson, directed by Phyllida Lloyd and choreographed by Anthony Van Laast. The production is designed by Mark Thompson, with lighting design by Howard Harrison, sound design by Andrew Bruce & Bobby Aitken, and musical supervision, additional material & arrangements by Martin Koch.
The MAMMA MIA! International Tour is produced by Judy Craymer, Richard East & Björn Ulvaeus for Littlestar in association with Universal, Stage Entertainment and NGM.
The Cast
Sara Poyzer has played Donna in both the West End production and the MAMMA MIA! International Tour. Her West End roles include Janet in Rutherford & Son, Emilia in Othello and Mam in Billy Elliot.
Geraldine Fitzgerald rejoins the MAMMA MIA! International Tour as Tanya. She recently played Tessie Tura in Gypsy and Maggie Jones in 42nd Street, both at the Curve Theatre in Leicester.
Sue Devaney recently played the roles of Dot and Mrs Lord in Housewife 49 at the Old Laundry Theatre, Janice Spendlover in Fetish Knights at the Lowry Theatre Salford, and Petula Gordino in the Dinnerladies UK Tour. On television, she played the Secretary and Jane in Dinnerladies, was Liz Harker for four years in Casualty and Rita for three years in Jonny Briggs.
Richard Standing reprises the role of Sam Carmichael in the MAMMA MIA! International Tour, and recently appeared in the UK tour and West End production of Rutherford & Son, and the UK tour of Othello.
Michael Beckley is reprising the role of Bill Austin in the MAMMA MIA! International Tour, and played the role of Robert in Blue/Orange at the Theatre Royal York and Randall P Murphy in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest at Leicester’s Curve Theatre.
Keiron Crook recently played Captain Von Trapp in the UK tour of The Sound of Music and appeared in Love Story at the Minerva Theatre, Chichester and Marguerite by Alain Boublil and Claude Michel- Schonberg at London’s Theatre Royal Haymarket.
Victoria Serra recently starred as Kate McGowan in the critically acclaimed production of Titanic at the Southwark Playhouse, and Wendla in Spring Awakening both at the Broadway Theatre and in the original UK tour.
Bart Edwards previously appeared as Olly Greenwood in BBC’s EastEnders and in Leaving for ITV. He recently appeared in Constance at the Kings Head Theatre and in the new musical Next Thing You Know at the Landor Theatre.
Sally Frith recently graduated and makes her professional debut in the MAMMA MIA! International Tour.
Jasmin Colango recently played Silabub in the European Tour of Cats, the title role in Cinderella at the Hackney Empire, and Young Eponine in Les Misérables.
Kade Ferraiolo played Spider in the UK tour of Oliver!, and also appeared in The Mikado for the ENO at the Coliseum and We Will Rock You at the Dominion Theatre.
Ashley Luke Lloyd played the role of Michael in the original cast of Billy Elliot, and more recently Francis in Loserville at the West Yorkshire Playhouse and in London’s West End.
