VisitBlackpool is delighted to announce Lancashire-based radio station Rock FM as its media partner for the 2014 Illuminations Switch-On event.
As part of the partnership, Rock FM will be utilising the extensive reach of its parent company – the Bauer Media Group – which boasts more than 80 radio stations and magazines across the UK.
The group’s radio stations include brands such as Absolute Radio, Key 103 in Manchester, RadioCity in Liverpool, Radio Aire in Leeds and Clyde in Scotland, while magazines vary from FHM and Heat to Practical Photography and Q.
The partnership with VisitBlackpool will see Rock FM work with promoters to organise the line up of talent to perform at the FREE Switch-On on Friday 29 August. This will then be promoted across the UK including Scotland, Yorkshire and the North East.
Cllr Graham Cain, Blackpool Council Cabinet Member for Tourism and Leisure, said: “We are thrilled to be working with Bauer Media Group and Rock FM on this year’s Switch-On.
“Rock FM is a local North West station that understands just how big this night is for Blackpool and how important it is to get it right.
“We are particularly pleased that this will be a free event as it means residents and visitors alike will have the opportunity to apply for free wristbands and enjoy what promises to be a fantastic array of talent for no charge.”
Details regarding the acts performing at the Switch-On will be announced over the next few weeks.
Rock FM Director Vicki Allison said they are excited to be part of Blackpool’s big night.
Vicki said: “As Lancashire’s most cherished heritage radio station, Rock FM and the Bauer Media Group are delighted to be a part of the world-famous Blackpool illuminations – an event that has a special place in the hearts of our listeners.
“We go hand-in-hand as perfect partners to deliver an unforgettable Illuminations Switch-On – creating magical memories and bringing thousands of people together in the wonderful town of Blackpool.”
Cllr Cain added: “This is a great partnership for us and we look forward to working with the team at Rock FM and Bauer over the next few months.
“In the meantime I would urge people to register their interest for wristbands as our experience is that when we giveaway free wristbands for an event they tend to be incredibly popular.”
