Speed Dating to Entice Business to Blackpool

“Speed dating” is being used in an effort to entice more conferences to Blackpool.
Representatives from VisitBlackpool will head to London in the New Year to urge the organisers of conferences and association gatherings to bring their members to Blackpool.
Specialist conference and event magazine myvenues has organised the networking showcase which will see around 50 buyers from London-based agencies questioning key venues and destinations from across the UK.
Face-to-face meetings are arranged in advance giving each destination 20 minutes to sell their towns and venues to individual organisers.
Blackpool is one of 33 exhibitors to be taking part and Tourism Manager Mandy Tythe-McCallum said it is a great opportunity.
Mandy said: “Such networking events are a great way for us to really sell Blackpool to potential business and conference organisers.
“It provides us with the perfect opportunity to really push Blackpool and explain everything that is happening in resort while also giving clients the chance to ask us direct questions.
“We cannot just sit and wait for organisers to contact us. It is imperative that we get out there as much as possible and let everyone know just how great Blackpool is and how much it has to offer the business visitor.”
The London showcase is one of a number myvenues will be hosting throughout 2014.
Ben Aylward, myvenues owner, said: “We are delighted to be organising this series of events across the country giving us the opportunity to bring conference buyers together with key venues and destinations. We have been running events for some time on behalf of individual clients but we are now in a position to extend this service throughout the UK and Ireland.”
