Marketing Blackpool is delighted to announce it has won a Silver international marketing award.
The Destination Management Organisation, responsible for attracting business and leisure tourists to the UK’s most popular holiday resort, was shortlisted as a finalist in the Meetings Industry Marketing Awards (MIMA).
And at an awards ceremony in London last night it won the Silver Award for its Conferences and Meetings guide after beating competition from Austria’s Vienna Convention Bureau and the Royal College of Physicians.
Marketing Blackpool’s Silver Award means it came in second place just behind Hackney Venues.
Conferences and Meetings was launched earlier this year and shows the contrast of how Blackpool’s plentiful and unique conferencing venues are capable of catering for an array of organisations ranging from punk festivals and pigeon fanciers to political parties and international dance competitions.
Marketing Blackpool Tourism Manager Mandy Tythe-McCallum said she is thrilled to have accepted a Silver Award.
Mandy said: “We were absolutely delighted to be shortlisted at the MIMA’s so to walk away with Silver is great news.
“This year’s guide is completely different to anything we have ever done before and that has clearly been recognised. Obviously the guide has to be about venues and facilities but Blackpool has so many contrasts and is such a unique destination that we really wanted this to be evident.”
The MIMA’a are organised by leading business tourism magazine Meetings and Incentive Travel. Other awards this year included finalists from Australia, the USA, Holland, Canada and Singapore.
Mandy added: “The fact that Conferences and Meetings was even shortlisted alongside such big international organisations is proof that this iconic British seaside resort has a lot to offer the 21st Century business traveller. I hope this award will encourage even more conference and business planners to consider Blackpool in the future.
“This is also testament to the hard work and dedication of the Marketing Blackpool team both past and present who worked to produce this guide.”
