Marketing Blackpool has been shortlisted for an international business award.
The Destination Management Organisation, responsible for attracting business and leisure tourists to the UK’s most popular holiday resort, is a finalist in the Meetings Industry Marketing Awards (MIMA).
The nomination is for the best marketing brochure and puts Marketing Blackpool’s Conferences and Meetings up against high calibre competition from Austria’s Vienna Convention Bureau, the Royal College of Physicians and Hackney Venues.
Conferences and Meetings was launched earlier this year and shows the contrast of how Blackpool’s plentiful and unique conferencing venues are capable of catering for an array of organisations ranging from punk festivals and pigeon fanciers to political parties and international dance competitions.
Marketing Blackpool Tourism Manager Mandy Tythe-McCallum said it’s a real coup to be shortlisted against such leading brands.
Mandy said: “It is fantastic that Conferences and Meetings is a finalist at the MIMA’s. “We produced something completely different this year and that has clearly been recognised. Obviously the guide has to be about venues and facilities but we also really emphasised just what a great destination Blackpool is and how much more it has to offer.”
The MIMA’a are organised by leading business tourism magazine Meetings and Incentive Travel and other awards this year see categories include finalists from Australia, the USA, Holland, Canada and Singapore.
Mandy added: “To see Blackpool shortlisted alongside such big international organisations is proof that this iconic British seaside resort has a lot to offer the 21st Century business traveller.”
The winners of the awards will be announced during a ceremony in London on October 24.
