Fans will soon be swooning as Olly Murs is the latest singer-songwriter to join the wax figure hall of fame at Madame Tussauds Blackpool.
Olly recently attended a sitting to capture his likeness. Appearing with microphone in hand, dressed in a crisp white shirt and skinny denim jeans, his wax figure will sport facial hair, a quiff and his trademark cheeky grin and visitors will be able to stand beside him to sing their favourite Olly Murs song.
The British chart topper will be unveiled at Madame Tussauds Blackpool at the end of March, where his wax figure will be in the company of an array of stars from the world of music, comedy, sport and entertainment.
The creation of Olly’s wax figure is an in-depth process, with a dedicated team of sculptors taking hundreds of precise measurements and photographs to ensure as accurate a likeness as possible. The figures are created by separate teams of sculptors, moulders, colourists and hair stylists and it takes 20 people four months to complete the figures with each one costing £150,000.
The Essex born star has established himself as one of the most popular and successful artists in the British music industry. With four number one hits under his belt, Olly has become a regular fixture in the UK charts. His most recent success was his recently recorded fourth studio album “Never Been Better”, which took top spot upon its release.
Olly commented “I’m very excited about getting my wax figure at Madame Tussauds! I’m very flattered as I know it’s a big honour to have a figure created by such a prestigious attraction. I’ve really enjoyed getting involved in the process and can’t wait to see the finished figure!
Matthew Titherington, General Manager at Madame Tussauds Blackpool commented: “He is one of the most successful male solo artists on the UK chart scene and it is an honour to have him at Madame Tussauds Blackpool.
“Olly’s figure was commissioned due to an incredibly high demand, our visitors are always asking if there’s a wax figure of the star. We’re expecting Olly to be one of our most popular figures at the attraction as he’s loved by people of all ages due to his fun nature and natural talent.”
