Blackpool’s Strongest Man Comeptition

Blackpool BID and Our Local Heroes Foundation are hosting Blackpool’s Strongest Man Competition which kicks off National Armed Forces Week in style with Ex Forces Personnel and Civilians alike proving themselves at events to win the coveted title.
The day will comprise of two individual competitions, both are identical events with the same structure, the only difference being the weights involved. The two categories are:
Novice – This is for all amateur level strongmen who are just starting to compete and for those with only a small amount of experience.
Open – This category is for the experienced strongmen most of who will have a few victories under their belt and is truly a battle of the giants
Each competitor will attempt each of the following six events with the strongman scoring the highest taking the title for his category.
1. Axle Press
2. Truck Pull
3. Yoke
4. Atlas Stone over Yoke
5. Conan’s Wheel
6. Car Deadlift
Stalls will surround the competition area selling merchandising and other items. There will also be some interactive stands where members of the public can make a small donation to attempt to set a record with a prize at the end of the day for the winner. An example event might be the highest number of continuous pull ups.
Local strongman, Greg Dunnings, a man mountain at 6’7” tall, is a veteran of Afghanistan who nearly lost his left leg in an IED explosion has his training sponsored by Our Local Heroes Foundation and is a leading contender for the podium.
Come along to St John’s Square in Blackpool’s town centre to see sights never before seen and for a really different day out.
