THINK OUTSIDE THE BIRD BOX WITH LEFTCOAST AT MEMORIAL PARK
15 September 2014
by Visit Blackpool
LeftCoast and Wyre Council are inviting the public to come up with an amazing design for a bird or bat box and enter it in a competition to have it made and permanently installed in Memorial Park in Fleetwood. The competition is open to everyone with all ages catered for as well as a special category for architects and design professionals.
To help you come up with your winning design LeftCoast are holding free drop in sessions with designer Tim Denton. At the workshops you’ll learn about the things you need to think about including advice on the best materials to consider, plus get inspiration for wild designs that appeal to the eye as well as being a comfortable home for your winged friends.
Michael Trainor, LeftCoast’s Artistic Director, said “We’re looking for designs that are bold and imaginative so throw your pre-conceived ideas about bird and bat boxes out of the window and think ‘Grand Designs’ – as long as it still functions as a comfortable bird or bat box it can be anything from a Dalek to a palace.”
The public are invited to submit their design across four age specific categories and one for professional designers or architects. Each category will have a winner and a runner up and the ten designs chosen will become a permanent feature in the park. All entries will be displayed as part of an exhibition in Fleetwood Library from 27 – 31 October 2014.
