Resort celebrates national excellence award

VisitBlackpool’s Resort Pass has been awarded Highly Commended in the Tourism Experience of the Year category at the national VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2014.

The BlackpoolResortPass, the brainchild of VisitBlackpool, is officially celebrating excellence after impressing judges for being the first of its kind in the UK offering visitors access to up to nine of the resort’s top attractions at huge discounts.

VisitBlackpool was nominated for the category after it scooped the Marketing Initiative Award at the Lancashire Tourism Awards. The BlackpoolResortPass made the finals as it was relaunched for the 2014 season.

As a finalist the BlackpoolResortPass went forward together with the Sandcastle Waterpark who won a fantastic Silver Award at the awards ceremony held on Monday 12 May at Cheltenham Racecourse, Gloucestershire.

Cllr Graham Cain, Blackpool Council Cabinet Member for Tourism and Leisure, said: “This is fantastic news for Blackpool. Last year, the ResortPass saw huge success thanks to the work of the VisitBlackpool team with partners across the resort to get the pass up and running.

“It is great that the Sandcastle Waterpark were also in attendance at these awards and achieved a Silver award in the Access for All category.  It demonstrates that Blackpool has a high quality offer for the visitors we welcome here each year.”
