Blackpool News / Theatres & Shows The Wizard of Oz returns to North Pier this Summer 14 July 2017 by Visit Blackpool Follow the Yellow Brick Road to Blackpool’s North Pier Theatre and enjoy this year’s summer pantomime The Wizard of Oz. Returning due to overwhelming popular demand is Blackpool favourite, funny man REECE SIBBALD, who will be playing the Scarecrow in this all-singing, all-dancing comedy bonanza. The Wizard of Oz, which will be performed every Wednesday from 26th July to 23rd August, follows the story of Dorothy on her adventures through the magical land of Oz. On her journey along the Yellow Brick Road she meets a brainless Scarecrow, a heart-seeking Tin Man and a cowardly Lion. After some magical intervention from Glinda the Good Witch they are soon at the mercy of the Wizard himself. This summer will mark the star of the show Reece Sibbald’s sixth triumphant season as resident comic in the “Panto at the Pier”. 2017 also sees the comedy star celebrating his tenth year in show business having toured the length and breadth of the country playing the Scarecrow at over 800 performances alongside some of the UK’s best loved entertainers. His madcap antics and quick-fire jokes have made the North Pier summer panto a staple tradition with holiday-makers and locals alike. Returning from the 2016 production is Pippa Smith playing the iconic gingham-gowned Dorothy alongside Nik Grundison who is back for a second dastardly year as the Wicked Witch of the West. Completing the fun-filled line-up is Rachel Slattery as Glinda the Good Witch, Alex Smith as the Tin Man, Jordan Carling as the Cowardly Lion and Duke DeMilo as the enchanting Wizard of Oz. The production is backed by an all-new score by musical maestro Olly Ashmore. Will Dorothy defeat the Wicked Witch of the West? Will the Wizard of Oz grant their requests? Is there really “no place like home”? Join in with the family-friendly fun at the North Pier Theatre this summer and find out for yourself! There’s glittering scenery, colourful costumes and more laughs than ever before. As the best value show in town you are sure of a great night out with The Wizard of Oz.
