Now celebrating its 29th year, The Solid Silver 60s Show is back on the road this spring with some of the decade’s biggest acts. The show swings into Blackpool’s Grand theatre on Sunday 20 April.

Commonly referred to as a British institution, The Solid Silver 60s Show is the original 60s touring show. Performing to thousands of fans from March to May, the show has been packing them in year after year by showcasing the very best of that special decade, and this year will be no exception.

This year’s not-to-be-missed tour reunites the sensational talents of Brian Poole and The Tremeloes and features the unforgettable talents of blues and soul singer Chris Farlowe, The USA’s and Chris Montez, all backed by Vanity Fare. With hit after hit and millions of records sold, hear the classic hits performed by the original hit-makers.

Reuniting for this year’s tour, Brian Poole formed The Tremeloes in 1958. Heavily influenced by their love of Rock ‘n’ Roll music, The Tremeloes auditioned for a recording contract with Decca Records on New Year’s Day, 1962. On that same day an up-and-coming band from Liverpool also auditioned. The Tremeloes were signed. The other band wasn’t. That band was The Beatles.

Upon their signing Decca bosses insisted that the band be billed as ‘Brian Poole and the Tremeloes’ as such was the trend at the time. They would go on to have huge hits and charting in the top ten four times in just two years with some of the biggest hits of the decade including, Do You Love Me (1963), Twist and Shout (1963), I can Dance (1963), Candy Man (1964) and Someone Someone (1964).

Brian Poole will be singing all his solo hits plus individual songs from both incarnations of The Tremeloes.

Chris Farlowe is one of the great underrated British blues and soul influenced singers. Joining The Thunderbirds in 1959, which included guitarist Albert Lee and keyboardist Dave Greenslade, the band would record five singles for Columbia Records. On Island’s Sue label, he released a version of Stormy Monday Blues under the pseudonym Little Joe Cook, which perpetuated the myth that he was a black singer.
