Stunning Blackpool showgirls, dressed in their sparkling feathers and finery, joined Mayor of Blackpool Val Haynes and restaurant staff as they tucked into Harry Ramsden’s world famous Fish and Chips on Blackpool Promenade.
The impromptu feast marked the official re-opening of the landmark Harry Ramsden’s restaurant in Blackpool as it unveiled a stunning contemporary new look, following a major £750,000 renovation.
External and internal works have completely transformed the look and feel of the Blackpool restaurant and its associated takeaway. In addition, as part of the refurbishment works, a brand new Harry’s Café has been created thus increasing the capacity of the restaurant from 153 to 165 covers.
The new look is both innovative and contemporary and mirrors the award winning Harry Ramsden’s outlet in Bournemouth which underwent a complete transformation in 2013.
Paying homage to the brand’s maritime heritage, the new look incorporates a sea of greens and blues, as well as smart black and white checked flooring, ‘newspaper’ wallpapering, porthole mirrors, and vintage black and white prints of fishermen landing their catch.
The Worshipful the Mayor of Blackpool, Councillor Val Haynes noted; “It’s brilliant to see an existing business with such an iconic brand investing and expanding on the Promenade, where Blackpool Council has already undertaken major refurbishment. An investment such as this is most welcome and demonstrates the confidence Harry Ramsden’s has in the future of Blackpool. It can only enhance the enjoyment of Blackpool’s famous Promenade for both visitors and residents alike.”
Cllr Graham Cain, Cabinet Member for Tourism also attended the event and commented; “With this welcome investment, Harry Ramsden’s has raised the bar and is now setting the high standards which we hope other Blackpool businesses will seek to achieve. I am delighted that such an attractive facility is now available for visitors to the town, as well as the local community, to enjoy.”
Joe Teixeira, CEO of Harry Ramsden’s added; “This investment underlines our ongoing commitment to the area and I believe that the stunning transformation clearly positions Harry Ramsden’s Blackpool as our flagship property in the North. This is the latest stage of the evolution of Harry Ramsden’s and we look forward to serving as many of the 13 million visitors Blackpool attracts, as we can in our new look restaurant.”
