A new seafront box office has been set up to help ride the wave of excitement that MAMMA MIA! has created in Blackpool.
There are now just two weeks before the world famous show begins its 12-week summer run at the resort’s Opera House.
And now, with tickets still proving popular, an extra concession has been created to cater to popular demand.
It’s up and running now near to the Comedy Carpet and just south of The Blackpool Tower and will also sell tickets to some of Blackpool’s top attractions at discounted prices.
It will be open from noon until 4pm with expanded opening hours of noon until 6pm during Blackpool Pride week and noon until 8pm after 19 July.
Cllr Graham Cain, Blackpool Council’s cabinet member for leisure and tourism, said: “This is just another way in which people can get their hands on tickets for MAMMA MIA!
“The momentum the show has generated is fantastic and you can really sense the excitement building in the resort.
“From hoteliers and their visitors to local people and their families and friends, this is the show that everyone wants to see.
“We’re incredibly proud to have brought this international phenomenon to Blackpool and I would urge everyone who loves the town to get behind it and go and see what all the fuss is about.”
As well as selling tickets to MAMMA MIA! the temporary box office will also sell tickets to all Merlin attractions (The Blackpool Tower, Madame Tussauds, The Sea Life Centre) as well as tickets for Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Illuminasia, Ripley’s Believe It or Not and Blackpool Zoo.
Tickets for this year’s Illuminations Switch-On Festival Weekend concert which features singing superstar, Rebecca Ferguson, amongst other top names, are also available priced at just £20 for access to both the Saturday and Sunday events as part of an early bird offer up to 30 June.
MAMMA MIA! is described as “the ultimate feel-good musical.”
Judy Craymer’s ingenious vision uses ABBA’s timeless songs to help tell an enchanting tale of family and friendship unfolding on a Greek island paradise.
To date, it has been seen by more than 54 million people in 39 productions in 14 different languages grossing more than $2 billion at the box office.
MAMMA MIA! The Movie is the highest worldwide grossing live-action musical film and it is estimated that one in four households in the UK has the DVD.
It is one of only five musicals to have run for more than 10 years both on Broadway and in the West End, and in 2011, it became the first Western musical ever to be staged in Mandarin in the People’s Republic of China.
