Blog: Panto is back at Blackpool Grand Theatre!

We definitely missed heading to the theatre last Christmas to see the traditional pantomime, and it was lovely to walk in to the spectacular Grand Theatre to see families and friends gather, some even in festive jumpers. Everyone had an air of excitement, knowing they were about to be entertained, and they weren’t let down.
This year it was Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs gracing the stage, with Vicky Entwistle reprising her role as the Wicked Witch, which is the role she played a decade ago at this very theatre. Panto favourite Steve Royle is back as Muddles, and he definately doesn’t let you forget that he holds the title of ‘Britain’s Third Most Talented Person’ during the show. Jamie Steen returns to the Grand stage to reprise his role as Nursie, with the most fabulous costumes which need to be seen to be believed. Chris Warner Drake plays the handsome Prince, and Ellie Green makes her professional debut as Snow White.
The story of Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs is one of the most well-known and popular fairy tales, with most people knowing the story of the young princess who is nearly killed by her evil stepmother, but is helped by a group of seven loveable dwarfs. The show at the Grand follows this story, but this version does not lack in panto fun!
I think my favourite part was the Twelve Days of Christmas routine, which had everyone laughing and it left me feeling exhusted by the end of it, i don;t know how they manage that night after night!
Steve Royle’s comedy timing has everyone in hysterics for the entire show! He has a way of making you all feel involved in the performace. We can't ever imagine this panto without him! (Luckily he's already confirmed for next year).
Parents, be warned – there is some TikTok audience participation for the adults as well as the kids, so get practicing your routines..
The songs performed were a great mix of original panto tracks and contemporary hits, so lots of opportunities to sing-a-long with the cast.
We left the theatre feeling excited for Christmas, and we cannot recommend the show enough. My small guest who I took with me said it was 'tooooo funny'! And is still talking about it the week after!
Book your trip to panto here, you won’t be disappointed:
