Partington's Holiday Parks are are one of the first Holiday Parks in the UK to team up with the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower.
Partington's forward thinking will not only help their team members assist adults and children with invisible disabilities across their Holiday Parks but will also encourage other businesses within the industry to join this fantastic scheme.
An invisible disability does not have obvious signs, such as learning difficulties, mental health as well as mobility, speech, visual impairment or being hard of hearing or deaf, asthma, COPD, and other lung conditions as well as chronic illnesses such as renal failure, diabetes, and sleep disorders can all significantly impact day-to-day life.
At Partington’s, they believe all their guests should have a great customer experience from the moment they visit one of the Parks. Living with these conditions can make daily life more demanding for many people, with the right support from their team, they can recognise and support those individuals with a non-obvious disability by giving them more time and additional support if needed.
As well as supporting their customers, Partington's are also passionate about assisting their team members too. Jack, their newest gardener recruit, has an invisible disability has never felt so supported in his new role with Partington's at Windy Harbour Holiday Park. The Park is immensely proud to have Jack join their gardening team, as Jack says, ‘Every flower deserves the chance to bloom’.
Paul White, CEO, Hidden Disabilities Sunflower said, “Partington’s Holiday Parks are one of the first UK holiday companies to join the Sunflower network. Holidays are a time to reset mentally, emotionally, and physically, all of which can now begin upon arrival for Sunflower wearers.
Staff have undertaken our training and are ready to offer kindness, understanding patience and care. People with invisible disabilities can look forward to enjoying their break away in beautiful locations that are the perfect place to unwind.”
What is the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Lanyard?
The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower originated in 2016 when London Gatwick Airport posed the question, ‘How can we recognise that one of our passengers may have a non-obvious disability?’. The answer was to create a lanyard with a simple sunflower design on a green background. It was intended to be a discreet sign enabling airport staff to recognise that the wearer (or someone with them) may require some extra help, time or assistance when moving through the airport.
The success of this simple but effective design and idea and the positive response it received, has meant that the Sunflower Lanyard Scheme® has now been adopted in the UK by a number of supermarkets, railway networks, coach, bus and tram companies, police forces, NHS trusts and leisure facilities.
How can wearing the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower benefit the wearer?
Partington's may ask the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower wearer what they can do to assist them; the wearer can also use their Hidden Disabilities Sunflower to explain what additional help may be needed.
Do you need to qualify to wear one?
There is no qualifying list of invisible disabilities. If you have a non-obvious disability and feel that you would benefit from wearing a Hidden Disabilities Sunflower product, please do.
The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower does not entitle you to anything other than recognising that you have an invisible disability and that you may need some assistance, help, or a little more time. It is NOT a pass to be fast-tracked nor for any other benefit.
Where can you get one?
Hidden Disabilities Sunflower lanyards are available free of charge to customers across all Partington's Holiday Parks. If you would like to order a different product or would prefer to have your lanyard delivered, they are available to purchase from hiddendisabilitiesstore.com.
