KIDS GET DRAMATIC AT THE MOUNT PAVILION
7 January 2015
by Visit Blackpool
Children and young people are invited to get prepared for performance as part of LeftCoast’s free programme of artistic activities every Saturday at The Mount Pavilion in Fleetwood.
The new programme begins on Saturday 24 January with Recycled Theatre and Melanie Whitehead. You’re invited to help create the dark waters of the deep using junk art materials, and then take yourself on a journey with one little fish that is fighting to keep his home free from rubbish.
On Saturday 31 January children and their families are invited to immerse themselves in the tale of The Princess and the Frog with actress and storyteller Sarah Jane Lee. Help Sarah tell the story by becoming one of the characters in this magical storytelling experience – and you can come in fancy dress too.
On Saturday the 7 and 14 February Skool of Street will take over the space with their unique Urban Playerz drama and movement workshops. You’ll get the chance to work with experienced instructors to develop creative skills in creating stories, facial and vocal expression and using movement as a dramatic tool. To round off the workshop you will work as part of a group to build a series of dramatic scenes with other participants.
Michael Trainor, Artistic Director at LeftCoast, said: “We’re really excited to be continuing our free artistic programme at the iconic Mount Pavilion is a really important way of stimulating people’s creative side. Life is better if you can be creative from time to time. The space is perfect for these kinds of activities and we saw fantastic attendance throughout 2014. The new programme for 2015 is taking on a more dramatic twist with new artists who haven’t worked in Fleetwood before – plus it’s free, what’s not to like?”
Councillor Lynne Bowen, Cabinet member with responsibility for arts and culture at Wyre Council, said: “The Mount has taken on a new lease of life since LeftCoast began their arts workshops and this year promises even more family fun and creativity.”
“I’m thrilled with the variety of activities that have been provided so far and the New Year programme offers something completely different still. It’s the best place to take the kids on a Saturday afternoon!”
All Saturday workshops at The Mount Pavilion run from 1-4pm and are free of charge. Look out for more activity dates being announced in February 2015.
