Blackpool News Jason Donovan heads back to Blackpool for Livewire Festival 16 August 2017 by Visit Blackpool The 2017 LIVEWIRE Festival will open on Friday 25 August with a performance by The Jacksons. That will be followed on the Saturday night by Pete Waterman’s Hit Factory Show starrring Jason Donovan, and featuring Pepsi and Shirlie, Go West, Sinitta, Samantha Fox and more. Then, on the final night, Sunday 27 August, Will Smith will take to the stage with DJ Jazzy Jeff for their only UK performance this year. This week we got to meet up with Jason Donovan, who will be performing at Livewire Festival, and ask him a few question before his trip to Blackpool this summer! Welcome back to Blackpool Jason. What have you been up to since you performed at Switch On Weekend in 2015? I’ve travelled around the country a lot since I was last in Blackpool, I was playing legendary record producer Sam Phillips in Million Dollar Quartet which toured the UK along with my own tour all throughout last year. I was performing my 1989 album ‘Ten Good Reasons’ back to back plus some of the greatest hits, it was so much fun getting out there and seeing everyone sing along to the songs we’ve all grown up with. When you were here last, did you get chance to treat yourself to some seaside fish & chips? I didn’t, but I do remember wearing an I heart BPL hoodie!! I also frequently drink from my I heart BPL mug!! You are back again this year at the Livewire Festival. What can the festival goers expect from your set? The crowd can expect a high energy performance with me singing the songs they know and love - no doubt I’ll be asking them to join in with me at some point! What are you most looking forward to on your return to Blackpool? I love being by the sea so any gig where I get a glimpse is a good one in my book! I’m hoping the sun will be out but we will have a great time regardless – that’s the joy of festivals, everyone is there to enjoy themselves whatever the weather! Will the family be joining you on your trip to the seaside? Not on this occasion but they’ll be waiting for me when I get back. Getting home and seeing Ange and the kids is my favourite thing, they’re my everything. Do you have any festival tips for the Livewire fans? Have a great time and party like it’s 1989!! Tickets are still available for Livewire Festival, and can be purchased online here, or at the Tourist Information Centre on Blackpool Promenade in person.
