Local bus operator, Blackpool Transport showcased 6 of the 10 brand new Mercedes Citaro at a stakeholder launch event on the Promenade today. With a new premium brand livery the buses were officially ‘opened’ by local high school student Christopher Dickinson from High Furlong School and Councillor Gillian Campbell Chair of Blackpool Transport with Bob Mason, Service Delivery Director from Blackpool Transport.
Blackpool Transport has a long standing partnership with Highfurlong School to work together to enhance the lives of the young people who attend the school and were delighted to have Christopher open the new buses which will operate specifically on Service 5.
The 10 Mercedes Citaro Buses are full low floor throughout with the latest eco-friendly Euro 6 engines, seats trimmed in E leather with wood effect flooring, free WiFi and mobile charging points for customers. Plus extra room for wheelchairs and customers with buggies along with next stop announcements.
Service Delivery Director of Blackpool Transport, Bob Mason, said: “This investment at over £1.7 million is the start of a better future for Blackpool Transport and we want to make that journey with our customers. The launch today is just the start of a year of exciting change for public transport in Blackpool.”
