Hollywood hits Blackpool!

Fox UK Productions will be filming scenes for an upcoming feature film in Blackpool this May. Filming will take place at Blackpool Tower, on the Promenade in front of Blackpool Tower and on North Pier between Friday 1 May and Friday 15 May 2015. Currently, there is no filming scheduled to take place on the weekends.
Preparation work will start on Monday 20th April. In order to facilitate the filming, we will have technical vehicles parked around the Tower. These vehicles carry our essential filming equipment and need to be as close to the location as possible.
A road closure and pedestrian diversion will be active on the Promenade from 0830hrs on Tuesday 5th May until 0800hrs on Saturday 9th May. The road closure runs from the Talbot Road turning at North Pier to Coral Island, just before Central Pier. Buses and taxis travelling North will be able to access as far as Adelaide Street West to continue services as normal whilst the closures are in place, St John’s Square will be available for taxis and bus services to use. While we know any closure to the Promenade can cause disruption we hope that these measures will minimise any inconvenience.
Due to the nature of the sequence and the fact that we are filming a stunt, we want to make sure that as well as creating a safe and secure environment for us to work in, we will also ensure that you can all come and go from your place of work as normally as possible & that customers can access the
businesses in the road closure area. There will always be clearly signed routes around our closure and well-briefed security crew to point you in the right direction.
A tram closure will take place between Manchester Square and North Pier on Wednesday 6th May, Thursday 7th May & Friday 8th May between 0600hrs and 1500hrs. Trams will run as normal outside of the road closure.
During the road closure, the area in front of the Tower will need to be kept completely free of nonessential traffic and people. Pedestrian barriers will be erected to help police this between Tuesday 5th May and Saturday 9th May. We will never restrict access for any emergency vehicles and where
possible allow access for deliveries.
Whilst filming in Blackpool, we are at the mercy of the British weather. We fully intend to stick to the schedule detailed above and complete the filming as planned. However, should the weather take a turn for the worst, we may have to push the above closures to the same days the week after, week
beginning Monday 11th May. Should this happen, we will inform you of the changes as soon as possible.
Alan Cavill, Director of Place, said: “For the next few weeks Fox UK Productions is in Blackpool filming scenes for an upcoming feature film.
“Once the film is released we believe that Blackpool will be in the international spotlight which is fantastic news for the town and the businesses that operate here.
“We know any closure to the Promenade can cause disruption so we have decided to open St John’s Square for taxis and bus services to use which we hope will minimise any inconvenience.
“The closure of this section of the Promenade is essential to allow the filming to take place, as soon as the road can be reopened it will be.”
