Bird's Eye Views

Love heights? Love adrenaline? Blackpool is your answer. There are many activities for people who like to live life in the fast lane. Our lovable spokebird, Nigel C Gull, is here to show you how to walk on the wild side.

You really need to spread your wings when you come to Blackpool. Take it from one who knows these things. The sky’s the limit when you’re a seagull. I’m lucky enough to get a bird’s eye view of the resort every single day – and you can too if you know the right places to go.

So, why not let me take you on a flight of fancy…

Towering Experience

Experience breath-taking panoramic views with a trip 380ft into the sky to The Blackpool Tower Eye. Walk out (if you dare!) onto the spectacular SkyWalk – a five-centimetre thick glass platform, where you can gaze across the Irish Sea and at the famous promenade below you.

From this unique advantage point you’ll be able to see the North West of England spread out before you, from Bowland up to the Lake District and, on a clear day, down to Liverpool and across to the Isle of Man.

Sip And Sigh!

The sky really is the limit in the tranquil setting of Bar 380 at the very top of The Blackpool Tower. Take in the stunning vista with a cocktail, Mocktail, beer or soft drink. It’s the only bar in Blackpool where you can see the entire Fylde coastline and beyond.

Magic Circle

Sit back and take to the skies on the most striking feature on Blackpool’s Central Pier - The Big Wheel.

Standing 108ft high, this giant Ferris wheel is an iconic part of the resort’s skyline offering amazing views of the Irish Sea, the Golden Mile and The Blackpool Tower, and is particularly impressive when illuminated against the night sky with brightly coloured lights.

It has been named in the past as one of the resort’s 10 most Instagram worthy attractions.

Sky Bound

If you want to wing it like Nigel, you might want to give the SkyCoaster on South Pier a whirl! Perched on the southern edge of the pier, 30 feet above the sea, it is said to simulate the flight of a seagull.

Highflyers are winched up over the bustling amusements below and then soar above the many onlookers below and out over the edge of the pier. Not one for the feint-hearted!

The BIG One!

If you haven’t yet been on The Big One, Nigel has beaten you to it! He hit the heady heights on the UK’s tallest roller coaster during the making of his TV ad.

The Big One was constructed in 1994 and stands 235ft above Blackpool Pleasure Beach. The three-minute ride hits speeds of 85mph so if, like Nigel, you choose to wear a hat, you might want to hang on to it.

Hitting The High Ropes

Your feet won’t touch the ground at the High Ropes Course at award-winning Stanley Park – or at least they shouldn’t do! You’ll start off making your way through a range of wobbly obstacles on the low ropes to test your balance and confidence.

Then you’ll move up a level to an 8m high platform before taking on the challenge of the high ropes including moving tyres, swings and bouncing bridges.
Clip in, hold on and enjoy the ride. How high and how far can you go?
