Free Cupcakes to Celebrate 123rd Birthday of The Blackpool Tower!

This is the incr-edible towering cake made to celebrate the 123rd birthday of one of Britain’s most beloved landmarks, The Blackpool Tower.
And visitors to the attraction on Sunday 14th May, The Blackpool Tower’s official birthday, will be able to see the spectacular creation on display 380ft high at The Blackpool Tower Eye.
The first 123 guests who visit The Blackpool Tower Eye will also receive a free birthday cupcake.
The scrumptious treats and the monumental showpiece have been created by baker and cake engineer Pauline Caswell of Penny Pea Cakes from Wirral.
General Manager at The Blackpool Tower, Kenny Mew, said: “The Blackpool Tower holds a lot of memories for many, many people and the staff and I are immensely proud to work here.
“Sunday is obviously a very special day in our history and we want our guests to share these celebrations with us. Everyone loves cake – but the cakes we have on offer are very unique indeed!”
In addition to treating guests to birthday cake, The Blackpool Tower has also handed out 123 free family passes to a selection of local charities.
Mr Mew added: “We want to give something back to the local community to enable everyone to experience the magic of The Blackpool Tower!”
The Blackpool Tower first opened to the public on 14th May 1894 and is now the 120th tallest tower in the world.
The Blackpool Tower comprises of The Blackpool Tower Ballroom, Eye, Circus which has been under the direction of the Endresz Family for 26 years, The Blackpool Tower Dungeon and Jungle Jim’s soft play centre.
The Blackpool Tower was designed by two Lancashire architects, James Maxwell and Charles Tuke, who oversaw the laying of the foundations in 1891. Sadly both men had passed away by the time The Blackpool Tower opened three years later.
