trivago Reveals Top 20 Hotels in the North West

Hotel search website trivago.co.uk have revealed the results of their inaugural Top Hotel Awards, using aggregated online user ratings in order to recognise the best rated hotels, both regionally and nationally. The Arthington Guest House in Blackpool is the top rated hotel in the North West, followed closely by The Redstone, also in Blackpool and The Sun Inn, in Kirkby Lonsdale.

With a rating of 96.38, The Arthington Guest House in Blackpool is the best-rated hotel in the North West and rated third in the whole of the UK. Second place (and 12th in the UK) goes to The Redstone, also in Blackpool, with a rating of 95.69. In third place (16th in the UK) is The Sun Inn in Kirkby Lonsdale, with a rating of 95.62. In total, an impressive ten hotels in the top 20 for the North West also feature in the top 50 hotels in the UK.

The top five hotels are B&Bs, which is a good representation of top-rated accommodation in the North
West. The vast majority of the top 20 hotels are B&Bs, with just three hotels (Cedar Manor, The Cranleigh Boutique Hotel and Cragwood Country House), making B&Bs the best-rated type of accommodation in the region.

The average room rate for the top-rated hotels in the North West is relatively low, with 12 of the top 20
boasting average rates of less than £100 per night. The cheapest is The Craimar in Blackpool (ranked 6th), with an average room rate of £54 per night. This is closely followed by Gabrielle’s (ranked 19th, £56 per night) and The Arthington Guest House (ranked 1st, £57 per night), both also in Blackpool. The most expensive is Edgar House in Chester (ranked 4th, £172 per night) followed by Cedar Manor in Windermere (ranked 10th, £167 per night) and The Cranleigh Boutique Hotel in Bowness-on-Windermere (ranked 11th, £165 per night). These rates are the average of all available room options, including suites.

Out of the top 20 hotels in the North West, six are located in Blackpool, with three in the top ten. A further ten are located in the Lake District region, with four in the top ten. Windermere in particular seems a popular locations for top-rated hotels. In the south of the region, Chester contains two top-rated hotels.
