Over £500,000 has been invested in The Flying Handbag recently and manager, Neil Rutherford, can't wait to show off the new look.
A major refurbishment has seen upgrades to the stage, sound and lighting system, bar, DJ booths and new toilets.
The bar, on Queen Street, has been closed for seven weeks while work has been carried out but it reopens with a relaunch party on Friday February 28th.
Neil Rutherford said: "I can't remember the last time we had such an investment and it's great to have this kind of support from Thwaites.
“The new look building got handed back to us at the weekend and it looks amazing. People will see the difference straight away – and we are already getting so many comments from people on our Facebook page about how they are looking forward to visiting.
“We’ve got a fantastic opening night planned, as you might expect from The Flying Handbag, and then we will be opening from noon every day with a refreshed entertainment schedule, led by DJ Pudsley.
“Our old favourites like karaoke and the quiz will return, and we’re delighted that DJ Carmen will be back one night a week too. One new thing will be the introduction of an evening food menu, which I know will be welcomed by many people as they now won’t need to leave the venue to stave off hunger pangs!”
To celebrate the grand re-opening at The Flying Handbag, there will be live performances from X-Factor star Joe McElderry, the winner of Pride Stars 2019 and Karaoke World Championship 2019 Jenny Ball, and local singers Emma-Louise Jackson and Johnny Wright.
