Our lovely Design Manager Gemma went along to see Puss in Boots as a children's ballet last weekend at the Grand Theatre with her little girl, and here's what she thought!
My four year old daughter Harriet, her nan and I all went to watch the 14:00 performance of Puss in Boots at the Grand Theatre Blackpool last Saturday. The production was performed by the Northern Ballet, who are well known for their hugely successful CBeebies TV adaptations, so definitely not one to be missed!
We started the afternoon with pizza and ice creams at Pizza Express and a then it was a short walk to the Disney Store and Build-a-Bear, essential shopping for a 4 year old – as if we all weren’t giddy enough!
The atmosphere and surroundings of the beautiful Grand Theatre were wonderful and added to the anticipation of my little girl’s first ballet. She wasn’t disappointed and was swept away with the magic of the ballet and wanted to move in time with all the characters. Her favourite was a beautiful white cat called Penelope Purr - I think it was the white tutu and long fluffy tail combination that particularly captured her imagination.
It was a superb performance that left my little girl dancing all the way back to the car. At forty minutes, the length of the show is perfect for the attention span of little ones.
This was a wonderful opportunity for us all to experience live ballet music and theatre. We will definitely be keeping our eye out for more children’s ballets coming to the Grand theatre in the near future.
