It's Electric

The final phase of Blackpool’s rail revolution is underway, paving the way for the biggest investment in the resort’s rail network for more than a century.

After 19 weeks of work, the Blackpool North to Preston line will be electrified enabling visitors to travel into Blackpool on direct services.

Blackpool South station re-opens on January 29, with the main station at Blackpool North reopening on March 25. In the interim, there are bus replacement services in and out of Preston rail station on a regular basis.

The first electric trains will arrive in Blackpool in May.
