Football-mad fish fanatics at SEA LIFE Blackpool 22 June 2018 by Visit Blackpool Football-mad fish fanatics at SEA LIFE Blackpool are staging their own version of the famous football tournament...underwater. They've set up goals and a special pitch in one of the displays, so marine life can join in the fun. And, in a remarkable twist, one of the fishes is captured on camera flicking the ball with its tail – just like Gareth Bale's super goal last month. Soccer-mad aquarists have even drawn up their own team of fishballers, featuring stars of today and previous tournaments. It features two 15-player squads, complete with some massive names from previous tournaments, including Paul Shoals and Krill Neville, as well as rising star Wayne Troutledge. Other current legends include Trout Alexander-Arnold, Ra-Bream Sterling, Thomas Mullet, Fishco, Diego Codin, Marcos Atuna, Dávinson Sánchovies and Fishtiano Ronaldo, as well as past greats, like Ole Gunnar Solshark. Even the managers get in on the act, with Frank de Boafish and Goby Mourinho. Matthew Titherington, general manager at SEA LIFE Blackpool, said: “We wanted to join in the fun and stage our own tournament underwater. "The team here at SEA LIFE Blackpool came up with some great names for our fishy footballers. We even managed to capture one of the fish curling his tail to flick the ball, just like Gareth Bale!"
