Viva Blackpool Are Set For A Stand Out Gig As The Osmond Brothers Take To The Stage! 23 April 2018 by Visit Blackpool The Vegas venue in the heart of Blackpool is set for a night of pure nostalgia as Merrill and Jay Osmond, formally known as The Osmond Brothers perform a one of a kind show on the 6th July! Taking us back through the decades, The Osmond Brothers will delight fans with a stand out show as they perform a set of their all-time greatest hits. The Osmond’s have had a fantastic and successful career throughout the years and have gone on to be world-wide music icons. The band, originally consisting of four very talented brothers, Alan, Wayne, Merrill, and Jay Osmond, recorded their very first record album in 1963 titled ‘Songs We Sang on the Andy Williams Show’ which instantly became a huge success and is still a very well loved and known Osmond album today! Since that time, and with the addition of younger siblings Donny, Jimmy and Marie joining the group, collectively and individually, the family have went on to not only release approximately 200 albums but also generate an astonishing 100 million album sales all whilst achieving 59 gold and platinum record awards! With each album recorded, the Osmond’s’ talents and abilities continued to grow musically and saw the band cover just about every genre of music imaginable including; Barbershop, Pop, Rock, Disco, Country, Gospel, Broadway, Swing and Jazz. As well as expressing their music through different music genres, the band also recorded their songs in eight different languages including; Swedish, Japanese, Samoan, German, Spanish, French, Latin, and of course, English. The Osmond’s have proven to be very talented and successful song writers and have penned a majority of their biggest hits – including Down By The Lazy River, Crazy Horses (their biggest international hit), Let Me In, Goin’ Home, and many more. Their first big hit was “One Bad Apple” recorded on MGM records, going straight to #1, staying at that peak position for six weeks. In 1972, their hit “Crazy Horses” reached number 14 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number 2 in the UK Singles Chart. With all of the fantastic awards, albums, number #1 hits and success, there really is no other musical group or family that can match The Osmond’s. With their albums still being purchased today, as well as their singles still being extremely popular, well known and well loved, it’s clear that the band still know how to touch the hearts and souls of their fans. Over the years, the group have since went their separate ways, with brothers Alan and Wayne now retired, but Merrill and Jay still continue to perform together and are entering their sixth decade performing as the Osmond’s! And we’re told that the best is only yet to come! Leye D Johns, Entertainment Director at Viva, said: “Everyone here at Viva is thrilled that we not only get to welcome back the music legend that is Merrill Osmond, but also have the fantastic Jay Osmond join us at the venue too! I don’t need to tell you how amazing Merrill and Jay are because I’m sure that everyone who knows and loves The Osmond’s will already know just how incredibly talented and loveably they truly are! We’re sure that this will be an extremely popular night with locals and visitors alike so we’re encouraging everyone to book their tickets early to make sure they don’t miss out.” As well as seeing the show, revellers can treat themselves to a selection of pre-show dining options including full 2 or 3-course meals and lighter snacks or the option to dine at Viva’s sister venue Viva Vegas Diner, where you can choose from a whole menu of tasty American classics.
