Visit Blackpool

Things to do for families

Blackpool is the UK's favourite family resort, and it's easy to see why! Read on to learn about the exciting activities you can enjoy with the kids . . .

Day at the beach

We all know that time with the family is precious, so if you’re looking for somewhere to escape, kick off your shoes and feel the sand between your toes then a day out at the beach is definitely on the cards. With six miles of golden sands, Blackpool is proud to boast national awards for all four of its beaches.

Blackpool Tower

A trip to Blackpool would not be complete without a visit to the iconic Blackpool Tower. You can practise your quickstep in the famous Blackpool Tower Ballroom (think Strictly!) or just sit back and relax while you enjoy afternoon tea. Take a trip to the Tower Eye and admire the stunning views across the North West; sit back and enjoy the breath-taking performances in the Blackpool Tower Circus; or why not immerse yourself in a journey through 1000 years of Lancashire’s murky past in the Blackpool Tower Dungeon?

Escape the hustle and bustle

Head a couple of miles inland and you will find one of the jewels in Blackpool’s crown. Stanley Park has a magical blend of architecture, horticulture and recreation facilities and is the perfect antidote to the hustle and bustle of the promenade.

You’ll find plenty to occupy all ages, with a children’s playground, boating lake, trampolines and a miniature train that takes you on a tour of the beautiful grounds. There is a bandstand, stunning Italian Gardens and don’t miss the opportunity after all that strolling to visit the Art Deco CafĂ©.

Take a splash

For a sub-tropical experience, look no further than Sandcastle Waterpark, the UK’s largest indoor waterpark. With over 18 slides and attractions featuring water slides, fun pools, wave machines and water chutes, at a constant 84 degrees, you can sit back and relax as the kids enjoy what’s on offer.

You can even book your own private VIP Tiki Cabana, providing everything from your own reserved parking space, to a fridge stocked full of goodies.

Animal mad adventure

For those animal mad enthusiasts, you’re bound to enjoy a trip to Blackpool Zoo.  The Zoo provides a haven of peace, tranquility and over 1000 animals in 32 acres of traditional, spacious parkland and lakes, as well as offering an educational yet fun day out for all the family, whether you’re nine months or ninety-nine years!

From aardvarks to zebras, cockroaches to giraffes, our residents come in all shapes and sizes. You can walk amongst them in Amazonia, Lemur Wood and Wallaby Walkabout or look them in the eye with nothing but a pane of glass between you and the occupants of the Big Cat House.

Thrill-seekers’ haven

Blackpool Pleasure Beach is home to some of the best rides on the planet. Whether it’s the steel mega-coaster that is the Big One, the UK’s only Nickelodeon Land or the first Wallace and Gromit ride, Pleasure Beach is full of world firsts.

It has one of the best collections of wooden rollercoasters imaginable including the Big Dipper, one of Europe’s only twin-tracked rollercoasters in the Grand National, the twisting and turning Wild Mouse, the exhilarating Nickelodeon Streak; and its smaller sister, the Blue Flyer.
