Monster Hunt Blackpool

Be prepared for the ultimate invasion as a collection of giant inflatable monsters take over Blackpool’s rooftops this autumn.
The Monster Hunt between October 28 and November 3 will be one of the big attractions in the resort’s extensive Halloween By The Sea celebrations.
The hilarious monsters will form a spectacular, family-friendly trail between the Golden Mile and nearby town centre throughout the day and also during the evening when they will be illuminated to glow in the dark. Your job is to hunt them down!
The monsters have been created by the renowned inflatable design company, Designs In Air, who have worked for major clients including Glastonbury, Cirque du Soleil and New York Aquarium.
One of their design artists, Filthy Luker, said: “Our motive is to make the world a softer, more surreal and colourful place as a kind of vendetta against the mundane, concrete world we live in.
“With the element of surprise as a shock tactic, our giant pop-up artworks spice up the norm and disrupt skylines. They are instantly seen and enjoyed by everyone who passes by – it might not be high art, but it is definitely high UP art!”
Who are the monsters and where can you find them? All will be revealed in the coming weeks when you will be able to download a Monster Hunt map or collect one at the Tourist Information Centre opposite The Blackpool Tower.
The Monster Hunt is fully funded and supported by the UK Government through its Shared Prosperity Fund.
Monster Hunt, which is a free event with no tickets required, is just one of the resort-wide Halloween activities scheduled in Blackpool. The Halloween By The Sea programme also includes:
Journey to Hell at Pleasure Beach Resort; Pumpkin Festival at Ridgeway Farm; Halloween Tails at Peter Rabbit Explore & Play; Circus of Horrors at The Globe; Sweeney Todd at Winter Gardens, a spooky Halloween projection on the Tower building; and many more activities will be revealed over the coming weeks.
Don’t forget, we’ve still got all this to look forward to so save the dates in your diary:
World Fireworks Championship Blackpool
Watch the Blackpool night skies light up with two more brilliant firework displays synced to music as teams from across the world battle it out. Poland have already given the first spectacular display. That will be followed by Finland on Saturday 21 September and the USA on Saturday 5 October. The displays are free to attend and take place over the beach on the Tower Festival Headland.
Lightpool Festival
The award-winning Lightpool Festival returns with an amazing free-to-see programme of light installations, 3D projection shows, art trails, and stunning live performances from October 18-26.
Christmas By The Sea
The Tower Festival Headland will be turned into an outdoor winter wonderland with free skating rink, magic forest, snowfalls, log cabins, festive projection shows and themed rides including the awesome Star Flyer. It opens on November 15 and runs through to January 5, 2025.
The Blackpool Illuminations
The world’s longest running light display is showing every night during our autumn and winter events season, ending on January 5, 2025. This year’s seafront display, stretching more than five miles, includes a series of new features:
-
A spectacular new installation by the Illuminations’ creative curator, Laurence Llewellyn-Bowen. Entitled Disco Donkey Cavalcade, it is a celebration of one of Blackpool’s iconic beach attractions, with 12 donkeys dressed in 70s-inspired swimwear parading on a 16ft high platform, beneath a giant ice cream topped with a disco ball!
-
A brand new tableau, created by Leigh Francis (aka TV star Keith Lemon) featuring a wildly imaginative and colourful design incorporating a 12ft tall dinosaur, space ship, astronaut, an airborne BMX bike, and Leigh himself flying through the skies towards The Blackpool Tower!
