Visit Blackpool

Visitor Information

VisitBlackpool are deeply saddened to learn Her Late Majesty The Queen has passed away.

Her Late Majesty stood for many of the great things about this country, casting an image of strength, humility and kindness that went out across the globe.
We understand that you may have a few questions in relation to The Queen’s passing and your visit to Blackpool over the next 10 days.

Behind the scenes, we are working hard with tourism businesses to make sure we have relevant, up-to-date information for our visitors. Understandably, this is an extraordinary event and the country is in a state of mourning. Information may change, so we do recommend that you check back for regular updates.

Will the Blackpool Illuminations be switched off?

Blackpool Illuminations have been switched back on after two days of darkness following the death of Her Late Majesty The Queen. The Blackpool Tower will be illuminated in red, white and blue throughout the period of mourning on the evening of The Queen's State Funeral.

The Illuminations will once again remain unlit on Monday 19 September. The full display will then resume in full the following day, Tuesday 20 September.

Will the World Fireworks Championship Blackpool go ahead?

We have also decided to postpone the first of the World Fireworks Championships Blackpool events, sponsored by Coral Island, on the night of Saturday 17 September because of the proximity to the State Funeral. It will be rescheduled to October half-term. This means the revised dates for the four firework events are:

  • Saturday 1 October
  • Saturday 15 October
  • NEW DATE: Thursday 27 October
  • Friday 28 October
